     This month’s Band Spotlight Features 5 Piece emo rock band NAKEDBURN! Coming all the way from Toronto Canada NAKEDBURN consists of Matt Gurassi - Vocals, Rob Licandro - Guitar/ Vocals, Luc Chiasson - Guitar/ Production, Michael Van - Bass, and Alex Clancy - Drums. The band released its first single titled “Smoke” back in April of 2023 and since then has released 4 other singles all within the emo,rock, and pop punk genres.


     The band bursts onto the scene in a new explosion of energy with the release of their newest single “jaded” today! Not only did this new single feature Canadian punk icon Liam Cormier of “Cancer Bats”, but it also but it gives the band a fresh new revival of energy and shows just how talented they truly are. “jaded” is the first look into the bands EP “Drowning” which is set to release in early 2025. In this new EP the band begins to shift its sound from their previous softer more emo tones to a more aggressive post hardcore and punk style. I had the opportunity to listen to “jaded” before it officially released and I cannot begin to express how excited I am for the release of this EP! This track hits hard right from the beginning. The initial riff and drums honestly gave me the same vibe of Canadian hardcore band “Come Back Kid”. The band definitely has some really cool stylistic choices in their tool bag. I really enjoyed the little electronic drum fill in the pre chorus of “jaded”. It truly gives that modern post hardcore sound we’ve grown to love from bands such as “Bring Me The Horizon “!


     Honestly I really love how bands today seem to be more genre fluid and it not only appeals to a wide audience of people, It also introduces fans to a new taste of music they may not usually listen to. This is crucial in a world where it is very easy to get caught up in your own little genre bubble. 


     My co author (Angelica Correa) for this article had a chance to take an early look at the bands music video for their new single “jaded” and here is what she had to say : 


     Given the refreshing sound and visual inspiration of the 2000s, NAKEDBURN knew exactly how to execute the tone of their music video with their new song, “jaded”, featuring Liam Cormier. City lights and retro TV screens tie in highly well with the atmosphere of the outdoors, especially the skate park, which was truly a nice touch (considering there are people skating and vibing). As someone who loves when artists get creative with their angles within their shots, their camera work is phenomenal and truly gives off the alt-rock and emo look people still love to see to this day. I truly love how everything was filmed at night to truly capture the feeling of the song and the video overall because it gives the “feeling your emotions out” while moshing the night away. Overall, the music video and song is definitely a great introduction to get someone, like me, more into the hardcore, alternative scene with highlighting visuals and empowering sounds.




     The excitement and build up for this album has me on the edge of my seat! For now go stream “jaded” and all the other singles from NAKEDBURN!

  Hailing from San Diego, CA, New Aesthetic makes its statement bold and energetic.
